Spanish wines top 20.  Two are the Spanish wines that have been classified among the first 20 references selected by Wine Spectator in the year 2016.
One more year Wine Spectator has analyzed studied and the stories of the most peculiar wines.
In 2016 more than 18,000 blind tastings have been made to select the wines that will enter the tops 100.
Therefore, the importance of the Spanish wines that have been selected and that here we reflect those that have remained within the first 20.

Dark red, clean nose, complex and fresh, entry, has an intense fruity touch, mainly of red fruits. Aged between 16 and 22 months in French and American oak barrels, the wood gives you notes of cedar, and roasting. The mouths are friendly but firm. Tasty.
Abadía Retuerta also features a hotel opened in 2012, located in a 12th century monastery, surrounded by vineyards in the heart of the Douro River Valley.
The hotel restaurant has a Michelin star.

In the nose appear red currant aromas next to red rose petals. A background of mentholated aromas that give it a very pleasant subtlety
In the mouth it is a tasty wine, powerful and with memories of black fruit.
We look for interesting stories and the biggest surprises – what we call the X factor – along with quality (score), value (price) and availability (manufactured or imported cases). The average score and the average price are 93 points and $ 46, respectively.
Finally,In addition to these wines, other Spanish wines are among the Top 100 Wine Spectators, but we wanted to leave here record of the two that have achieved the highest score and have been placed in the top 20.
